Biography : 

Dr. Antonela Arhin is the Associate Director and a Sessional Lecturer at the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies at the University of Toronto where she teaches courses on human trafficking, diaspora and transnationalism. She brings over 20 years of experience in higher education, government, NGOs and consulting. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University Business Academy in Novi Sad, Serbia, and an M.A. in International Economics and International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C. Her B.A. is in English Language and English Literature from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia.

Her research interests are: transnational illicit flows, markets and networks; transnational labour exploitation; child migration, child rights and human trafficking; diaspora, citizenship and identity; crime and migration; human rights; law and cultural meanings. She has published and presented widely on these topics. Her co-edited book Labour Migration, Human Trafficking and Multinational Corporations: The Commodification of Illicit Flows (London and New York: Routledge, 2012) addresses human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation within the contexts of migration and the global economy.
